I’ve found an album by The Space Cowboys. Nice echoes of Bowie and a slightly old-fashioned sound mix that reminds me of early 70s Alice Cooper and Silverhead – i.e. guitar, bass, drums and vocals all up-front and clear.

Also there’s a single by the Joff Winks Band called Someone Else’s Words. Influences from Zappa, Steely Dan, and Neil Young are mentioned. Not a good list of pre-cursors for me, but what the heck, I’ll give it a good few listens. Stands up quite well to Josh Rouse, on first listen.
