After Suburbia

The Dare EP Sept 2003

An EP with plenty of good solid, distorted guitar work. The songs are melodic with a driving guitar backing although the quieter moments are particularly attractive. Albino (hate) has what sounds like hardcore roots and works really well with it’s energy. Break has a great verse with a relaxed feel (although the chorus sounds a bit formulaic). There’s a lot of competition around the melodic guitar-based alternative rock area, particularly from America. After Suburbia are promising, but not yet original. They maybe need to decide whether to go for a hardcore sound or to develop the softer melodic side – the quality of the singing and the musicianship is such that they can do either.
