The Downfall

Transporter Oct 2005

Another band from Leeds but unlike the Dance To The Radio buch, The Downfall take most of their influence from America (+ a bit of Pulp?). This sounds like a young band still trying to find their own identity. The more they sound punkier, the more I like it. But a few too many minor 7th chords for me - you only need A and G as The Stooges proved. There are plenty of moments when the hardcore punk influence comes through to make the blood flow, though.

The album will be released through Voltage Records in late October. If you like cross-Atlantic bands then you could be in heaven with this band. They are very competent in what they do but I've heard the competition (At Dusk, Stereotactic, and others) and they have a lot to live up to.
